Then, my uncle died.

Then my grandma died.
I live in GA, they lived in Detroit. Needless to say, the wind has been knocked out of my sails for the time being. I also have little free time since dealing with their affairs.
In other words, lots is going on with me and the podcast (again) is going to have to wait. Family comes first.

Episode 2 - Mobility (9/25/12)

How does mobility relate to feminism? In a historical context, women's mobility has always been a challenge even to the point where top doctors in the 19th century were telling women that if they rode bicycles, their bodies would become masculine and infertile. To their chagrin, bicycles became a major machines of liberation during the first wave of American feminism. Women referred to the bicycle as a "freedom machine" and used it as a symbol of emancipation. Women still face mobility issues in many parts of the world...like Mississippi. A more severe example of modern mobility challenges is in Saudi Arabia, where it is illegal for women to drive. Yay, oppression!

Dear Men's Rights Activists
Reading through Rebecca Watson's Page o' Hate inspired me to write the following.
Sympathy for the Devil
In essence, even though these haters creep me out in one way, I feel really sorry for them on so many levels. For one, they all despise themselves and their lives and are in miserable pain, but have no clue how to express or alleviate it. Two, I know they're lonely and think the world is out to get them, but have no idea how to fix it. Three, they spend so much time mentally masturbating with "logic" that can be shot down in a second. Four, some of them could be productive members of society, but they waste time being useless trolls.
I know it's likely beyond hope, but maybe this little ditty can pull a few to the light and, ultimately, to joy.

Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome
Sorry for any confusion, but where you are RIGHT NOW is going to be my Ranting Redhead Radio blog. I know before I said it would be here, but it's usual to have some SNAFU's on the first show.....but really I was just being indecisive when the show aired. I thought I could merge Ranting Redhead Radio with Confessions of a Former Catholic, but after others' advice, and the realization that both topics seemed to lose their luster when combined with the other, I decided to keep them separate but equal.
....cuz that's always worked out great in the past, hasn't it? :o/
As promised, this is where you will find the blog and video teasers. In other words I'll give you the topics, ask for your input, use it on the show, and after it airs, link to the archives here.
On this blog, you will also find me ranting and raving about random things that piss me off. :D The will always be related to feminism and/or atheism. I won't bore any of you with details of my latest expedition to Walmart or how much I hate Lady Gaga's music.

No Controversy - Part of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which promotes the idea of providing birth control to women in third world countries, mainly India and African nations. This particular sector of the foundation doesn't take donations, it merely asks you to take a pledge and share the info with friends. The goal is just to spread info.
Ahimsa House - A place that victims of domestic abuse can safely take their pets and be reunited with them after the violence stops. This one is specifically for Georgia residents, but they have links to similar charities in every state here: http://www.ahimsahouse.org/directory If you are in an abusive situation GET OUT NOW! Thanks to Ahimsa and similar organizations, you won't have to stay for fear of your pet's safety.
